Kim Full
Kimberly Nygren Cox

Kimberly Nygren Cox recently moved to the Iowa City area after spending two decades in Louisville, KY. Kim was introduced to the Pilates method during her 14-year career as a professional ballet dancer, and chose to become an instructor upon her retirement from dancing.

She instructs mat classes and apparatus sessions either privately or in a group setting, and is certified through the Pilates Method Alliance. Her initial certification was with the PhysicalMind Institute, and she is also certified in yoga, Peak Pilates MVe Fitness Chair, Resist-a-Ball, and CPR/AED.

During her years of teaching, Kim has worked with clients ranging from senior citizens recovering from hip or knee replacements to pre/post natal women to professional dancers and athletes*. She has designed mat classes to include specific props such as the Magic Circle or foam rollers, and also enjoys teaching a barre conditioning class that combines her love of ballet and Pilates!

Both yoga and Pilates are practices that can bring increased awareness to how people move throughout their daily lives, and can potentially provide the tools for a healthier, more comfortable, and more satisfying lifestyle. Kim believes that it is important to enjoy the process, or journey, rather than focus solely on the final product.

*Please note that yoga and Pilates do not substitute as a cure or treatment for medical conditions, but they may alleviate symptoms. Please see your Physician for more information or a recommendation about which exercise is right for you.
